                                                                                                                      INTERNATIONAL WALK 2026

The Appian Way, also known as the Regina Viarum (Queen of Roads), dates back to the 4th century BC. Its cobblestones have been walked by the apostles Peter and Paul, emperors, popes, St. Francis of Assisi and St. Thomas Aquinas, artists such as Petrarch, Tasso, and Goethe (known for his celebrated account, Italian Journey), and musicians such as Mozart. Along it runs the Via Francigena, a route traveled by pilgrims for over 20 centuries. The route is rich in sites of interest: Roman temples, Cistercian abbeys, monasteries, hermitages, castles, and Renaissance palaces located in villages sometimes older th Our journey will offer a wide variety of activities, including walks on sandy beaches, along coastal, hilly, and rural paths, along the shores of four lakes and three natural parks, through dense forests, and through Mediterranean scrub. We will also enjoy the cultural, spiritual, and social aspects of the itinerary, as well as performances by musicians playing ancient local music. We will also meet local communities who will introduce us to their customs and traditions, while spending quality time with fellow pilgrims from Europe, Asia, and America. You can experience this adventure as you wish, whether experiential or spiritual. On October 7, we will attend the general audience with the Pope in St. Peter's Square and subsequently receive the Testimonium in the Vatican, a document certifying the completion of our pilgrimage.
